Point Cook Physiotherapy is proud to be licensed by the Heart Foundation to run Heartmoves!! As part of the Healthy Communities Initiative, the Heartmoves program will be run by Maia Songcuan within the Point Cook Area.
What is Heartmoves?
Heart Foundation Heartmoves is a gentle physical activity program suitable for anyone who hasn’t done exercise in a while. You can exercise at your own pace in a friendly atmosphere.
Heartmoves is open to everyone and is designed to be safe for people with stable long-term health conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, arthritis or obesity.
Heartmoves is run by accredited physiotherapists specifically trained in managing safe, low to moderate intensity physical activity programs. Classes are limited in size to ensure maximum safety for participants.

Do I need a doctors referral?
If your health is stable then you can just come along.
If you have a number of health issues which may the reason why you want to join, it is always a good idea that your doctor clears you to exercise. They will need to fill out a short form which you then bring along to your first class.
Other health professionals may encourage you to participate in Heartmoves. These may include, physiotherapist, chiropractors, osteopaths, podiatrist and diabetes educators.

What do I need to do before attending?
There is a form that needs to be filled out which includes your details, doctors details, short medical history etc prior to commencing. This can be done on the day of your class but it would be advisable that you let the Heartmoves Leader know that you are wanting to join so she may speak with you prior to attending.
I haven’t exercised in years, what if I can’t keep up?
The program is designed so that you move at your own pace at all times. The exercises are low to moderate in intensity and there are always a variety of options even for those who would like to be seated for part of the class or for the whole duration of the class.
What do I need to wear?
It is important that you wear clothes that you are comfortable in and shoes that are supportive with a good non-slippery base such as runners/joggers.
Can I just come along and watch?
If you are not sure whether the class will suit you, we welcome you to come and watch a session to see what it is about.
